Who are Immunisation Coalition

The Immunisation Coalition is an Australian non-profit organisation that aims to promote immunisation and increase vaccination rates across the country. The Coalition consists of a group of experts in the field of immunisation, including doctors, nurses, and scientists, who work together to provide accurate and up-to-date information on immunisation to healthcare professionals, the public, and the media.

The Coalition is committed to preventing and reducing the spread of vaccine-preventable diseases, such as influenza, meningococcal disease, and human papillomavirus (HPV). It provides a range of resources to healthcare professionals, including training modules, educational events, and communication tools to help them engage with patients about the importance of vaccination.

The Coalition also advocates for policies and initiatives that support immunisation, such as the National Immunisation Program, and collaborates with other organisations and government bodies to achieve its goals. It is supported by a number of corporate sponsors, including vaccine manufacturers, and operates with complete transparency and independence.

Through its work, the Immunisation Coalition has made a significant impact on immunisation rates in Australia, particularly in vulnerable populations such as children, pregnant women, and Indigenous communities. Its efforts have also helped to address misinformation and vaccine hesitancy, which are significant challenges to achieving high vaccination rates.

Meningococcal Course 2023

Welcome to the Meningococcal Disease course for General Practitioners. This course is designed to provide you with the latest information, research, and best practices around meningococcal disease, a potentially life-threatening bacterial infection.

Meningococcal disease is caused by the bacterium Neisseria meningitidis, which can lead to meningitis and/or bloodstream infections. It is a serious and rapidly progressive disease that can have devastating consequences, particularly in young children and adolescents. With early detection and appropriate treatment, however, the outcomes can be greatly improved.

This course will cover the latest research and guidelines around the diagnosis, management, and prevention of meningococcal disease, including the use of vaccinations. We will explore the various strains of the bacteria and their prevalence, as well as the different clinical presentations and management approaches.

Additionally, we will discuss the importance of timely and accurate diagnosis, and effective communication with patients and their families. We will also explore the current recommendations for vaccination against meningococcal disease, including the various types of vaccines available and their efficacy.

By the end of this course, you will have a deeper understanding of meningococcal disease, and the knowledge and tools to confidently diagnose and manage cases in your practice, as well as to provide education and guidance to your patients and their families.
